Sunrise Ceremony

NNHAADsunriseFLIER2012 2Native American AIDS Project in recognition of National Native American AIDS Awareness Day cordially invites you to the Sunrise Ceremony on Tuesday, March 20th, 2012 at the Civic Center Plaza (in front of the City Hall). This year we welcome Kumu Hula Tatiana and  Halau Hula 'O Ke Ala Ika Pono, to offer a few Oli Chants and dances to commemorate the Equinox and the coming of brighter days. Breakfast reception to follow at: Asian and Pacific Islander Wellness Center, 730 Polk Street, San Francisco. This is an event in collaboration with: Asian and Pacific Islander Wellness Center and  Native American Health Center. You can follow our Facebook Event for more details.

Taking Care of the Tribe 2012 Pow Wow

finalflierNAAP's 6th Annual Taking Care of the Tribe Pow Wow, commemorating National Native American HIV/AIDS Awareness Day will be held on Saturday, March 24th, 2012! This year, we will be holding the Pow wow in a traditional Halloushka style with both a morning and evening session! All dancers who sign in and stay fully dressed will be paid at the end of each session. Their will be no grand entry. The Whipman and his chosen four tail dancers will begin the dancing with the men present, afterwards, the women will be invited to join the men in the arena. Their will be one entrance and exit, no side doors! Their will be exhibition dancing. NAAP's Board of Directors will be sponsoring a feed at dinner break. Their will be an MC, Tom Philips, to help direct the powwow. Tim grant from Macy, Nebraska will be the head singer- he sings with the Whitetail drum. We will also have raffles, a taco booth, arts & craft vendors for everyone to shop at. ALL DANCERS AND DRUMMERS, SINGERS WELCOME! Follow our event on facebook for more details.

Check our Vendor Registration page on our web site for more information. Absolutely no outside sales or raffles unless approved by powwow committee. We hope this is a great experience for all who join us!

Traditional Healing Program

NAAP will be starting up our traditional healing program this Spring. We are starting this program off by having a sweat lodge ceremony in April for our LGBT, Two Spirit and Trans clients. Space is limited and priority will be given to NAAP clients. NAAP would like to thank the San Francisco Council of Grand Dukes and Duchesses, Daniel Fortuno aka Paloma Volare, Landa Lakes and Miso Hornay for their tireless work for our community and the generous donations that they have made to make this sweat possible!
